HPV Vaccine Protects Boys and Girls , Charles Milupi

The acting
Miminster of health Charles Milupi says vaccinating girls aged 9 to 14 will secure the whole world as Cervical cancer which is caused by human Papilloma virus primarily
transmitted through sex affects both men and women.
Speaking
during the launch of the country wide Human Papilloma Virus Multi –age Cohort (HPV
MAC ) held at the ministry of Infrastructure ,Eng. Milupi said current
estimation show that by 2025 there will more than than 1 million deaths globally caused by cervical cancer globally and more
than90 percent of these deaths will be
in developing countries such as Zambia, and that the time to fight the deadly
virus from spreading is now.
“prevention
is better that cure ,but we still can stem the tide on those estimation ,if we
act now to ensure that every girl aged 9 to 14 is afforded access to the HPV
vaccine which runs in schools ,health facilities and mobile clinics, thanks to the generous support of our partners, Gavi, the
Vaccine Alliance, WHO and UNICEF, the Government of the Republic of Zambia
today launches this week-long vaccination campaign,”Milupi stressed.
He said the campaign will target 1.42 million girls aged
9to 14 years old running from Moday 25th September 2023 to Saturday
30th September.
The Acting thealth Minister told
media the vaccination campaign is targeting
every eligible girl and contributing to the good health of the Zambian female
population both now and into the future.
