Manager Rebecca Snyder says the exporting of white and brown rice to South
Africa and the rest of the region is paying off as the return of sales are
helping the sustain their agriculture business.
Speaking during one the country wide road show in Chaise Township
in Lusaka’s Mandevu Constituency hosted
in a local stadium an optimistic Snyder expressed delight that Chama rice sourced
from peasant farmers in the Eastern Province is one of the groups most reliable
nutritious product for Zambian families.
Snyder explained that her organization, COMACO is constantly
working to establish new innovations that will continue to help improve the
nutritional lives of small scale farmers living in rural areas of Zambia, while
promoting wild life and natural resource conversation.
Snyder told this author, COMACO recently launched a crowd source funding campaign to help raise money for its procurement of new machinery for equipment helping the over 250, 000 farmers already working in its out grower scheme, which is increasing in number.
“We want to help expand Zambian agriculture through exports
and ensuring that we continue improving lives of small scale farmers in rustic Zambia
so that farming becomes an everyday business not just a one seasonal
occurrence,” Snyder stressed.
Other nutritious products displayed on the road show were
the branded ‘It’s Wild’ peanut butter which is natural grown purely from
organic farming without any synthetic fertilizers, and the 500 grams Energy
nutrient-Rich Soy Cow peas Jumbo porridge.
