Help Make Film Acting a full time Job, Hicks Yamba prods Government
By Ashton Kelly Bunda
Hicks yamba popularly known as Frank Sitali who portrays as a rebellious son to the retired accountant of the Nguzu plantation in one of Africa’s famous soap opera film ‘Mpali’ bemoans the altitudes exhibited by some Zambians who take the acting industry lightly as it has the potential of being exported and strengthen the Zambian currency .
Yamba says film production in Zambia is considered to be a
hobby or substitute career which one can be performed as a pleasure recreation instead of an important channel to
tell Zambian rich stories to the rest of the world .
He said some of his colleagues who are involved in the
projects they are working- on , they
sneak out of the film set making an excuse that they have to report to work
or risk being fired and yet acting is supposed to be a trade or formal
employment that one would earn leaving from .
“if Zambia want to take art industry as whole to the next
level of creating employment and telling
the nation’s stories and way of living
,our achievements . and challenges
through movies ,so that mother stands out
to be counted among other
countries in the world,”Yamba stressed.
Yamba popularly known as “Frank Sitali” in Mpali is a full time actor and has played a role in another Zambia film project called ‘Ubuntu ‘ translated ‘ to be human and humane’ which shows on DSTV Zambezi magic .
The most followed soap opera movie in Africa Mpali depicts
the benefits of agriculture a rich man Mr.Nguzu
a proprietor of a plantation
in Lusaka ends up marrying 7 wives due to his affluence.
